Capturing
Capturing is deliberately the fastest thing in tidee. There is no required field beyond the entry itself: no date, no box, no category. You can add those later, or never.
Everything you capture without a date goes to your Backlog.
Speak it, or type it
Start a capture — Add item in the header on the web, the Add tab on mobile — and choose:
- Speak it — dictate the entry. Speech is converted to text by your device’s own speech recognition.
- Type it — opens the full form, where you can set a target date and a parent box at the same time if you already know them.
Either way you can keep going: capture four things in a row and sort them out afterwards.
Captures are tidied up for you
A dictated thought is rarely a tidy sentence. tidee passes what you captured through an AI model that turns it into a clean entry — a sensible title, and a suggestion of which of your boxes it belongs in.
You always see the result before it is saved, and you can edit it. If the suggestion is wrong, change it; nothing is filed anywhere you did not agree to.
Capturing without opening the app
This is the part worth setting up, because it is what makes tidee useful in the moments it was built for.
Siri, on iPhone and iPad
Say any of these with the app closed or the device locked:
- “Hey Siri, add to tidee”
- “Hey Siri, capture in tidee”
- “Hey Siri, new tidee item”
Siri asks what you want to add, you say it, and it lands in your Backlog. It works through AirPods and Apple Watch too, so the phone can stay in your pocket.
There is nothing to set up. You need Siri enabled on the device, and that is all — tidee registers the phrases when you install it.
A button, if you would rather press something
tidee also adds an Add to Tidee action to Apple’s Shortcuts app. Build a shortcut from it and put it wherever suits you: Control Center, your Home Screen, or the Action Button if your iPhone has one.
Android
On Android, tidee ships a Quick Settings tile and a home-screen widget. Both need adding by hand once — see Account → Hands-free capture in the Android app for the steps. That screen is Android-only, because on iPhone the Shortcuts action above needs no setup.
What counts as a capture
Each entry you create counts as one capture against your plan’s allowance. Editing an entry afterwards, moving it, completing it or archiving it does not count again. Boxes do not count at all.
See Plans and billing for the allowances.
