Organizing
Organizing is the half of tidee that happens when you have time. Nothing here is required — a Backlog you never sort is still a record of what you thought of.
The Backlog and the Prioritized list
Organizer has two tabs, and the difference between them is one field:
- Backlog — everything without a target date. This is the pile you review.
- Prioritized list — everything with a target date, grouped by day. This is the list you work from.
Giving an entry a target date moves it from one to the other. Clearing the date moves it back. That is the whole mechanism, and it is why capture asks for nothing: an undated entry is a perfectly valid entry, just one you have not decided about yet.
Boxes
A box groups things. Open Workspace to create one — the sidebar on the web, the tab of that name on mobile.
Boxes hold entries and other boxes, so you can keep them flat (“House”, “Work”) or nest them as deep as you find useful (“Holiday → Tenerife → Packing”). There is no fixed hierarchy to learn and no limit to work around.
An entry can sit in a box, or nowhere in particular. Both are fine.
Reviewing a pile of captures
The common case after a busy few days is a Backlog with twenty things in it. A pass that works:
- Delete or complete anything that solved itself. Plenty will have.
- Give a date to anything that actually has one. Those leave the Backlog.
- Put the rest into boxes, so the Backlog holds only what you have not decided about.
The aim is not an empty Backlog. It is a Backlog small enough that scanning it tells you something.
Searching
Search looks across your entries and boxes, including ones shared with you. It is usually faster than remembering which box you used.
Completing and archiving
Completing an entry marks it done. Archiving removes it from your lists without deleting it — useful for something finished that you may want to look up later.
Boxes can also archive their contents automatically after a set period, which suits a box you use for a trip or a project and do not want to tidy up by hand. Open the box’s settings to set it.
