Sharing

Sharing in tidee is always person to person, by email address. There is no public feed, no discovery, no profiles and no messaging β€” an entry is visible only to the person who created it and to people they invite.

Sharing something

Open an entry or a box, go to Share, and enter an email address. If they already use tidee they get it straight away. If they do not, they get an invitation to sign up, and the share lands once they have.

Sharing a box shares everything in it, including anything you add later. That is usually what you want for a shopping list or a project. It does mean the box is the unit of trust, though: glance at what is inside before you share one.

What the other person can do

Each share carries one of three levels:

LevelCan
ReadonlySee the entry and its details
EditorEverything above, plus change it, set dates and archive it
OwnerEverything above, plus manage who else has access

You can change somebody’s level, or remove their access, from the same Share panel. People with access lists everyone who can see the item and how they got it β€” directly, or through a box it sits in.

Nothing arrives unasked

The first time somebody you have never shared with sends you something, it does not go into your account. It waits under Shared items β€” in the sidebar on the web, under Account on mobile β€” with Accept and Decline. Until you accept it you cannot open it and it is nowhere in your Workspace. Declining removes it.

Once you have accepted something from that person, later shares from them arrive normally β€” the check is on first contact, not on every share between people already working together. If you are the sender, a share waiting for a decision shows as Waiting for them to accept.

Removing and revoking

  • Remove takes something out of your account without affecting anyone else’s copy: Shared items β†’ Shared with me β†’ Remove.
  • Revoke is the other direction β€” an owner withdrawing access they granted: Shared items β†’ Shared by me.

Spaces

If you belong to a space β€” an organization with other tidee users in it β€” you can share with everyone in it at once rather than naming people individually. Spaces appear in the web sidebar, and their membership is managed by their owners.

If somebody is a problem

You can report a shared entry, and you can block the person who sent it. See Staying safe.
